This past weekend through Food for Thought, Beloit’s newest club, I coordinated a trip to Angelic Organics Learning Center for two other students and myself to attend a class called How to Make Custom Teas. It was a beautiful day. The sun was out, and there was a breeze. We found the entrance and the room had full windows on one side. The instructor began class slowly once the tables filled and taught us about different types of teas, where they are from, and what to look for in good varieties. We passed herbs around the tables to smell and taste to become familiar with some of the common herbs used in blends. We gathered around a single table and tried five different types. The instructor emphasized the importance of the duration of time the tea steeps. Of course timing this well can significantly improve the flavor. When we returned to our own tables we mixed our own blends. Before leaving we walked around the farm, soaked up the sun and met with the animals.
It was a gorgeous day and a great adventure!
